Pre-Judo Class

For this age group the focus is on developing fundamental, non-specific sport skills. The children learn the basic movements needed for judo without emphasis on specific martial arts techniques. We focus on:

  • Track and field type movements such as running, jumping and throwing.
  • Gymnastic type movements such as stretching, balancing and tumbling.
  • Sport Canada’s "ABC’S of Athleticism" (Agility, Balance, Coordination, Speed)
  • At this age parents are encouraged to involve their children in other sports as well. (Swimming is highly recommended for the best overall body development.)
Play is the natural way that children learn and we want to take advantage of that. As much as possible, we try to use games as training tools to keep learning fun for the kids.

Our pre-judo program is based on Judo Canada's Long Term Athlete Development Model.
